Design
A load-bearing wall closed the kitchen off from the family room, and the fireplace wall had no focal point.
This remodel opened the kitchen to the living areas and updated the dining room, hallways, powder room, laundry, primary bedroom and primary bath. New hardwood floors run throughout.
The open layout, stone and fireplace wall were designed before construction. The owners approved the kitchen layout during design.
Build
Work began in March 2026. Exploratory digging found no footing under the new beam load, so an engineered footing went in before the wall came out. The client punch list was complete in July 2026.
Enjoy
Removing the wall the right way, with engineered beams and a new footing, created one open great room. The quartzite waterfall island and fluted fireplace give it two strong focal points.
