A whole-home remodel is for homeowners ready to update multiple rooms or an entire house at once, with one team guiding the project from first plans to final walkthrough.
What’s Included
Design, selections, construction and the workmanship warranty: one team, under one roof.
Design
Design starts with a discovery visit at your home, then moves into our design studio. Your designer develops the floor plan and elevations, walks you through them in 3D, and refines them with you until they are right. Design ends with a detailed estimate built from the finished drawings, which is what makes a fixed price possible.
Selections
Selections are made in the studio with your designer, not from a catalog on your own: cabinetry, counters, tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting and hardware. Each choice is priced as you make it, so you always know where the number stands. When selections are complete they are locked into the contract, and that is why the price does not change.
Build
Once cabinets arrive, on-site work moves quickly since HHI can normally turn cabinets around in about two weeks, so the schedule is driven less by cabinet lead times and more by plumbing, electrical, and structural or foundation inspections where they apply. A project manager is on site daily, overseeing the subcontract crews doing the work and inspecting it internally before it's considered done. Town inspections are scheduled by the director of construction, and results are logged in the portal the same day, so you always know where the build stands.
Workmanship warranty
One-year workmanship warranty on every project, measured against the National Association of Home Builders' Residential Construction Performance Guidelines.

Questions Homeowners Ask
What does a whole-home remodel cost on Hilton Head Island?
A whole-home remodel on Hilton Head Island typically runs $165 to $245 per square foot, so a 2,500 square foot home usually falls between $413K and $613K. Fully custom, ultra high-end whole-home remodels can reach $300 per square foot. The number moves based on how much of the floor plan changes, especially moving walls or relocating kitchens and baths, and on the finish level chosen throughout the home. Older homes often need electrical, plumbing and HVAC brought up to current code during a whole-home remodel, and that work is priced before the finishes. HHI Builders works on a fixed-price construction contract with no change orders, so the price in your contract is the full price for the project.
How does the fixed-price/no-change-order model work?
The fixed-price model means the construction contract you sign is the price you pay, because HHI does its design and feasibility work up front before that contract is written. During design, the design team and project director work through the details, opening walls if needed, so surprises are rare. HHI absorbs the cost of its own mistakes, such as a mis-measured cabinet layout or a missed item, so the client never pays for those. Only two things create a change order: the client changes a decision after design is complete, or a concealed condition turns up in an area there was no reason to open during design. The guarantee covers HHI's scope and HHI's mistakes, not new choices made along the way.
How long does a whole-home remodel take?
A whole-home remodel runs design and build one after the other, and the total time depends on the project's value and complexity. For projects up to $100,000, design takes 6 weeks and build takes 6 to 8 weeks. From $100,000 to $200,000, design takes 7 to 9 weeks and build takes 9 to 12 weeks. From $200,000 to $350,000, design takes 10 to 14 weeks and build takes 13 to 16 weeks. From $350,000 to $500,000, design takes 16 weeks and build takes 16 to 20 weeks. From $500,000 to $1,000,000, design takes 16 or more weeks and build takes 21 to 35 weeks. HHI sets the exact schedule with you before the remodel starts.
Can we live in the home during a whole-home remodel?
In most cases HHI recommends moving out during a whole-home remodel, often to a short-term rental, since Hilton Head is a tourist town with options nearby. HHI offers white-glove move-out: furnishings are inventoried, moved to air-conditioned storage, then brought back and set up once the home is ready. If moving out isn't possible, phasing the project can allow you to stay. HHI will tell you honestly if a project isn't a good fit for living in place, rather than promise something the schedule can't support.
Do you handle design and construction together?
Yes. HHI Builders is a design-build remodeler on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, so design and construction happen under one roof with one team. The process starts with a design agreement, where the interior designer guides you through drawings, 3D previews and selection boards. Once every selection is locked in, those choices are written into a fixed-price construction contract with no change orders. Because one company handles both phases, there is no handoff between a separate designer and a separate builder, and no gap where decisions stall the schedule. All materials are selected, ordered and scheduled before demolition begins, so the build moves forward without waiting on choices that could have been made earlier.
What a client said about their whole home remodeling project
“We used HHI Builders for a bathroom, a kitchen and a laundry room remodeling. They were fabulous during all stages of the job. The completed rooms are even better than what we had envisioned. Dalton and Danielle were available at all times to answer questions and give suggestions. Perhaps the best testimonial is that we are having them complete another job for us in 2026.”
